Salesforce.com’s Big Announcement Yesterday, and Salesforcetimes.com

Over One Million Served

I wrote a piece today for a great new website, Salesforce Times, dedicated to collecting news, opinion, and generally interesting information about our favorite software as a service, Salesforce.com. Salesforce Times was founded by Adam Killam, a Vancouver BC based   Salesforce.com administrator and internet marketing specialist.

The piece I wrote was about yesterday’s announcements coming from Marc Benioff, most notably the fact that SFDC has reached the 1 million subscriber milestone. You can check it out in its entirety here.

Here’s an excerpt:

Salesforce.com certainly seems to be the only one out there doing Software as a Service right. Even many of their partners – endorsed and approved members of the AppExchange program – can struggle with the concept. As Marc Benioff lauded several companies who are “going native” and developing new programs on the Force.com platform, I was struck by the thought of how enticing and charismatic SFDC can be, but how it can be very risky to rely so heavily on SFDC’s customer list as your sole source of revenue.
